michael kors black Friday Chicago native Wendy Mullin has quietly built herself a lowkey clothing empire since Built by Wendy launched in 1991: The colorful guitar straps she once designed (common with hip rockers like Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth) have since expanded into both women's and men's clothing lines, along with a series of patterns (manufactured with sewing giant Simplicity) and books that teach creative customers steps to make their own stylish threads. The Williamsburg location of Built by Wendy opened in 2005 as being a companion to Mullin's 13yearold flagship Nolita store, and you will find unfussy items liked cotton dresses, denim shirts and tees which are flattering, comfortable and really cool. Though that store closed last year, the girly, whitewalled Bedford branch remains to be going strong, offering a carefully curated collection of jewelry, accessories, home items and more.
